Spiritual Warfare – Our Commander and Chief

But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.             2 Thessalonians 3:3

You can tell a lot about someone based on their name.  Many of us are known by several names.  For example, I am Greta, Mother, Grandmother, Daughter, Wife, Coding Consultant, “Rug Lady”, Pretzel, and Love Bug just to list a few.  Most of these names are self-explanatory.  However, there are a few I will expound upon for you.

One of the things I enjoy is crocheting rugs.  Over the past year or so I have been teaching others in my church how to make beautiful rugs too.  And so for many of the women in my church, I have earned the term of endearment “rug lady”.  What?  I’ve been called worse.  Pretzel was the name given to me by my parents after they realized I loved sitting cross-legged on the floor.  And Love Bug, well that’s one of my favorites.  It was given to me by my cousin Kevin when he witnessed first hand the sheer amount of love God pours into and through me to whomever I meet.

Our Heavenly Father has many names as well.  He is the Mighty Creator, King, Lord, Holy One, Consuming Fire, The God Who Sees Me, The Eternal God, God Almighty, Shield, Fortress, Strong Tower, and God Most High to name a few.  Ann Spangler wrote two excellent books on this topic, Praying the Names of God and Praying the Names of Jesus.  In this bestselling author’s work you will uncover many of the characteristics our Commander-in-Chief in this spiritual war has to offer.

Listen to me dear one, you have all the power of the Universe on your side!  There is NOTHING that can overpower our Defender.  The victory is already won.  Seek to learn all that you can about this God who loves you so dearly.  Claim your promises from Him and glow on!
